The Leadership Accelerator Programme is a capacity-building initiative designed to address the gender disparity in women's leadership on the African continent. Specifically tailored for high-potential young African women in corporate settings, this program aims to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to ascend to leadership positions.

Free Online Course

The online course is a combination of 10 short-paced online modules which can be completed in 3 weeks for high-potential young African women on topical issues affecting women in the workplace and hindering them from thriving professionally.

In collaboration with the expertise of the Monitoring, Evaluation, Research and Learning Team, a need for assessment was shared and responses from over 200 respondents led to our modules.

  4. How to Build Wealth As A Working Woman by Jennifer Awirigwe, Founder, FinTribe
  5. Developing Executive Presence by Uyoyo Zino Edosio, Principal ICT4D Expert, African Development Bank Group
  6. Gaining Visibility in the Workplace by Nkiru Olumide Ojo, Regional Executive Head of Marketing & Corporate Communication at Standard Bank Group and Ifesinachi Okoli-Okpagu, Chief Marketing Officer, Heirs Insurance 
  7. Becoming A Prosperous African Corporate Woman by Tokunbo Ishmael

Selection

All applications will be subjected to the scrutiny of the following criteria: gender, age and work sector after which selected applicants will be enrolled on the Learning Management System (LMS) of the I-LIT platform and an announcement will be made across social media platforms.

Onboarding 

Applicants will be onboarded via a webinar that discusses the module schedules, FAQs, weekly lessons learnt sessions, Weekly check-ins, final assessment and qualification into the Bootcamp.  

Final Assessment and Certifications

Upon completion of the course within the specified timeframe, participants will undergo a final assessment. Subsequently, a certificate will be automatically generated following the assessment.

Graduation Ceremony

A virtual graduation ceremony will be held for all participants who have completed the final assessment via a Zoom Webinar and YouTube.

1-Week Paid Intensive Bootcamp

The Bootcamp is a physical event that spans over 1 week and targets a cohort of young African women aged 23 – 35, who have completed the online course within the designated time frame of 3 weeks upon onboarding. These aspiring leaders are seeking to advance their careers and secure leadership roles within their respective organizations or fields.

The Bootcamp is a physical event that spans over 1 week and targets a cohort of young African women aged 23 – 35, who have completed the online course within the designated time frame of 3 weeks upon onboarding. These aspiring leaders are seeking to advance their careers and secure leadership roles within their respective organizations or fields.

By obtaining a certificate through this program, participants strategically position themselves to identify leadership opportunities within their organizations, particularly when confronted with gender-related challenges. They learn to develop strategies to overcome gender biases and cultivate habits that enable them to assume leadership positions more effectively. Additionally, participants gain essential soft skills required to thrive in the workplace and build a distinguished career.

Learning Objectives

In line with SDG 5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls

SDG 8:Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all. 

The objectives of the programme are as follows:

  • Upskill female professionals with the expertise needed to thrive in their careers
  • Build a reputable career that brings about an increase in organizational productivity and profitability/revenue
  • Build a network of female career professionals with integrity and competency
  • Foster a more inclusive and collaborative workplace culture through Male Allyship Session
  • Pair participants with top-tier career professionals who can mentor them in specific areas of their careers

Criteria for selection

  • Young African Female career professionals aged 23-35
  • Possessing 3-8 years of professional experience
  • Completed the online course within the designated timeframe and earned a certificate of completion
  • Scored at least 70% perfect score in the final assessment
  • Have 3 goals to be achieved during the programme
  • Committed female professionals prepared to fully engage during the program’s duration
  • Fulfill the required commitment payment for the programme
  • 2023 Participants who have completed the modules and final assessment will automatically qualify for the Bootcamp.

Announcement and Onboarding

Confirmed participants will be announced across social media platforms after which there will be an onboarding of confirmed participants to the Bootcamp where they will be privy to the next steps after registration detailing groping into teams for case study analysis and presentation, the venue of the Bootcamp, onboarding to a VCoP, faculties, sessions, FAQs and program modality

Capstone Projects

Following the completion of a leadership training BootCamp, participants will undertake a capstone project they have identified. This project serves as a culmination of their post-Bootcamp plans, showcasing the application of insights gained from the program. Participants will demonstrate their ability to put into practice the knowledge and skills acquired during the BootCamp. The capstone projects will be shared widely across LEAP Leadership Institute communication channels, aiming to inspire and engage female career professionals to actively participate in or replicate the showcased initiatives.

3-Months Intensive Mentorship

Participants will be paired with mentors, the selection will be based on the specific needs identified in the forms they have filled out. The mentorship program will be for 3 months. Meeting times will be based on the agreed scheduled time with participants and their mentors meeting once or twice a month. These mentorship conversations will encompass a wide spectrum of topics, including career development, leadership, and personal growth. Additionally, there will be a monthly check-in to ensure that the objectives of the mentorship are being met.
