LEAP Africa announces partners with Sterling One Foundation and Giving.ng for Youth Day of Service 2021

Lagos, Nigeria: In commemoration of the International Youth Day, LEAP Africa, one of Nigeria’s foremost youth-focused leadership development organizations is pleased to announce the second of its Pan-African ‘Youth Day of Service’ (YDoS) campaign, a youth-led social impact campaign with the theme, Youthful and Useful.  Through the Youth Day of Service, LEAP Africa seeks to rally young people, corporate organizations, public and social sector organizations to become advocates and renew the spirit of active youth citizenship with emphasis on spreading the culture of service and collective responsibility.

Starting  August 12 – 18, 2021, Youth Day of Service is a week-long event that will  foster the spirit of service to community and volunteerism among the youth population in Africa with a focus on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and also inspire them to be active social change agents in society. LEAP Africa has partnered with Sterling One Foundation and Giving.ng to provide funding opportunities for individuals and groups who are championing projects on the Youth Day of Service.

Sterling One Foundation and Giving.ng are providing up to N10,000,000 (Ten million Naira) funds to ten (10)  project leads who meet the criteria for selection.

Community projects range from Child Rights Awareness to Skills Development training and Clean-up exercise to Food Drives as seen on the campaign website – www.youthdayofservice.org – where volunteers register their projects and plans. The overall goal is to reach  1,000,000 people in at least 20 countries working with 5000 volunteers across Africa.

“One of our strategic pillars as an organization is to raise talents for the actualization of the SDG, this is a demonstration that LEAP Africa remains committed to stimulating conversation on youth actions for Sustainable Development across Africa. The week-long campaign will bring together young people in different African countries, and communities to champion laudable community development projects.” – Femi Taiwo, Executive Director, LEAP Africa.

This partnership with Sterling Bank and Giving.ng will strengthen communities and trigger collective actions in Nigeria.

About LEAP Africa

For over 19 years, Leadership, Effectiveness, Accountability, and Professionalism (LEAP) Africa has stayed true to its mission to equip a new cadre of African leaders. LEAP Africa achieves this through its training programmes, research publications, convenings, and most recently e-learning. Our programme interventions are focused on 2 core thematic pillars- raising talents to actualize the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Making Secondary Education Work in Africa. Through all these, our overall objective is to change the mindset of youth; equipping them to lead ethically and motivating them to deliver positive changes in their communities, and building sustainable social enterprises for socio-economic transformation.
